With Prices ranging from £500 to £5000 for seemingly the same products and literally hundreds of design companies to choose from it can be quite overwhelming. So we have put together our top tips when seeking a website designer.
Should I go local? – It’s not completely necessary to use a local design company, however, it can be useful to meet your website designer at some point as it helps to spark the right relationship. Having said this, meetings and reviews can all be done via Skype – Adira have clients as far-a-field as Dubai, the Yemen, Africa and Switzerland.
Coding – not something you need to worry about but something a good website designer should worry about. For you it means everyone will be able to view your website properly and consistently regardless of your website visitors technology. The question you need to ask is ‘will they code to W3C standards’. If the answer is a ‘Yes’, it’s a good start. Adira always produce code to the highest standards that ensures that your website will stand the test of time.
Recommendation – as with everything it’s great if your website designer comes highly recommended. Don’t know of any recommend designers? Just ask – Adira will provide a selection of existing clients that potential customers can talk to.
The following are a number of pointers to look out for in your selection process –
Budget – everyone has a budget in mind and do make sure that both you and your website designer have a clear idea of what you’re willing to spend. Make sure that if there are any extras you want they are included in the quote, or that you will be advised of the price before they are added. At Adira we always document the full cost of the website and are very careful to make our clients aware of what is NOT included as well as what is.
Time frames – once you select a website designer you will have to allow time for your site to be built. If you need your site ready in a hurry make sure your designer can adhere to your timeframe.
As with everything it ‘s definitely worth doing a bit of legwork first and getting it right from the start. If you have any questions about this article then feel free to call Phill on 0845 6121199.
